Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology is designed to monitor, detect, and prevent unauthorized use and transmission of confidential information. Antivirus software protects against malware but does not specifically prevent data exfiltration. Firewalls control network traffic and can limit data flows but do not actively monitor and protect data at rest or in use from exfiltration. Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) are designed to prevent network attacks but do not focus solely on data protection.
