While troubleshooting network issues you realize the network is having an incident involving broadcast storms compromising performance. What piece of network equipment would best be used to help prevent this?
A network router can prevent broadcast storms by filtering the broadcasts. Routers and other layer 3 devices also separate broadcast domains decreasing their size and impact on the network.
Wikipedia
A broadcast storm or broadcast radiation is the accumulation of broadcast and multicast traffic on a computer network. Extreme amounts of broadcast traffic constitute a broadcast storm. It can consume sufficient network resources so as to render the network unable to transport normal traffic. A packet that induces such a storm is occasionally nicknamed a Chernobyl packet.
