OSPF, a link-state routing protocol, provides faster convergence times than distance vector routing protocols due to immediate propagation of state changes in the network. It is also more scalable because it supports a hierarchical design with areas, reducing the size of routing tables and minimizing required bandwidth for updates. Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is also scalable and efficient, but it is less commonly implemented in multi-vendor environments compared to OSPF. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is primarily used for Internet routing between autonomous systems and is less efficient in an enterprise intranet scenario. Routing Internet Protocol (RIP), a distance vector protocol, has a slower convergence and is not suitable for large networks due to the limitations on hop counts and frequent broadcast updates.
