Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) allows the company to transport storage traffic over their existing high-speed Ethernet infrastructure without the need for a separate Fibre Channel network. This enables the datacenter to maintain high bandwidth and low latency for storage communication while leveraging their Ethernet network. Other technologies like Fibre Channel or iSCSI might seem appropriate, but Fibre Channel requires a separate networking infrastructure, and although iSCSI also uses Ethernet, it is not typically chosen for environments that already have a Fibre Channel storage infrastructure due to performance considerations.
