Zone-redundant storage (ZRS) synchronously replicates data across three separate facilities (often referred to as zones) within one region. This setup offers high availability and protects against failures at a single facility. Locally-redundant storage (LRS) replicates data within a single facility, which doesn't safeguard against facility-level failures. Geo-redundant storage (GRS) and Read-access geo-redundant storage (RA-GRS) replicate data to a secondary region asynchronously, providing protection against regional outages but not offering synchronous replication within the same region.
