Turning off the feature that allows for the network name to be broadcast will not make it visible in the list of networks when devices scan for Wi-Fi connections. Although this does not make the network invisible, as the name can still be discovered by determined individuals using specific tools, it removes the network from casual visibility and can deter opportunistic attempts to join the network without authorization.
